PVC Roofs
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a single-ply membrane that is usually white in color. This membrane can be installed using adhesive, ballast, or mechanically fastened. Scrim is used to reinforce the membrane. When this plastic roof system was first introduced, it had several problems including severe cracking and shattering - especially with temperature changes that frequently occur in Michigan. Manufacturers have improved the formula used in manufacturing this system, resulting in an improvement in durability and longevity of PVC materials.
Benefits – PVC roofing systems are very energy efficient and chemical resistant. The typical white membrane reflects sunlight and harmful UV rays. PVC roofs in Michigan have the potential to save business owners up to 40% in air conditioning costs.

PVC Commercial Roof System Maintenance
Like any commercial roof system, it is very important that preventative maintenance and service is performed. J.E. Dixon Roofing’s Maintenance Programs are designed to upkeep and repair any issues that are found in the roof, as well as clean any harmful debris that can be blocking downspouts, drains, or gutters. PVC roofs should be washed and maintained to increase longevity. Washing these PVC roofs with proper solvents is important, especially on areas where chemicals, exhaust, or grease are on the roof.
