Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomere, or EPDM, is a synthetic rubber material that is commonly used in single-ply commercial roofing. These synthetic rubber roof systems have greatly improved over the last several years due to advancements in materials and system installation practices. EPDM roof systems are now the most commonly installed type of roofing system because of its great value. EPDM is commonly installed over an insulation board such as EPS foam, polyisocyanurate, fiberboard and high density board.

This is done by first removing any debris and examining the roof for items allowing water to enter the system that will potentially cause leaks in the future. This includes performing repairs as required at seams, flashing seams, sump drains, and to the membrane itself. Preventative maintenance greatly extended a roof's life. If you have maintained your rubber system and it is nearing the end of its life expectance, in some cases the membrane can be washed with proper solvents,then repaired and coated with an acrylic or silicone-based roof coating to extend the life.
