TPO Roofing

TPO Roofing

  • Material Composition: A hybrid of traditional built-up roofing (BUR) and single-ply membranes, made from asphalt-based materials and polymer modifiers.
  • Durability:
    • Lasts 15-25 years.
    • It’s not as long-lasting as PVC or EPDM, but still offers good durability when properly installed.
    • Resistant to punctures, tears, and impact damage.
  • Energy Efficiency:
    • Generally not as energy-efficient as TPO or PVC, although some modified bitumen systems come with reflective coatings for better energy performance.
  • Installation:
    • Can be applied using hot asphalt, cold adhesive, or torch-down methods.
    • Installation is more labor-intensive compared to TPO or PVC, especially with torch-down methods.
  • Maintenance:
    • Requires regular inspections and maintenance. The seams can be vulnerable to failure over time, particularly in the heat.
